Working for a large retail chain spanning every single state in the Union and several other countries internationally, I know the system has its flaws. People go through the system, relying on it everyday for help in feeding and clothing their family members, making sure that Little Johnny and Little Suzy have the necessary materials needed to make it through the day. Things like that don't disappoint me in the slightest. I can see the need and I am happy such people get what they need.
What does disappoint me, however, is when people intend to use the system to their advantage--wittingly or no. Ignorance is not an excuse, and it shouldn't be. Ever. Period.
The general public is taken to the cleaners because people have learned to work the system in such a way that they can make a decent living in the eyes of their peers but still make the system support them. Mothers having children out of wedlock is perhaps the single biggest gripe that I have. Not only that, but people get away with it, pulling money from people like you and I.
There should be regulations in place for this, but there aren't. Therefore people will continue to have children on the government's dollar. Then those children have children. It is a losing cycle, and I don't see an easy way out. Somewhere down the road this cycle will come back and bite us in the ass. Mark my words.
